Recreation and Athletic Center (RAC)
The Recreation and Athletic Center (RAC) expansion and renovation was the first key undertaking of the next phase of the Campus Master Plan, with an impact on recreation and holistic well-being for the entire campus community. Groundbreaking for the expansion took place in 2018. The RAC (formerly named the Recreation and Convocation Center ) opened in January 2020.
The RAC provides much-needed fitness space and support facilities for the entire Hilltop community. Students, faculty, and staff will enjoy a spacious, contemporary fitness center featuring modern workout stations and equipment, and a wellness center with a lounge, seminar room and offices.
Facilities in the RAC available to our community, along with updates on our COVID-19 adjustments, include:
- Recreation fitness center/weight room
- Multipurpose fitness studio
- Available for GroupX, instructional programs, and academic courses
- No drop in use
- Tech-free wellness lounge
- Wellness seminar/co-working room
- Racquetball court
- RAC Gymnasium for basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, dodgeball, and other gym activities
- Recreational locker rooms
- Gender-neutral locker room
All students must check-in with credentials at the RAC and UFCU Alumni Gym for entry into the facility. No exceptions. Bring your SEU ID card (or mobile credentials) and phone with proof of completion of required daily health screen via the TopperSafe app.
UFCU Alumni Gym
Open Recreation on the gym floor is available for students, faculty, and staff. Reservations not required. The Alumni Gym is also home to the Hilltopper Spin Studio as well as the Topper Functional Training Studio, both opened in the Spring of 2022.
Practice Soccer Field (Intramural Field)
The practice soccer field is available for intramural sports events, club sports practices and games, and special events upon request. Open recreation is not permitted on the field. The field must be reserved.
Recreation Field (Teresa Field)
The recreation field is available at all times for club sports, open recreation, intramural sports, and special events. You can find rugby, lacrosse, ultimate frisbee, soccer, flag football or even boot camps on the field.
Outdoor Running Track
The outdoor track circles the Lewis-Chen Family Field and is available for walking and jogging. The track measures just over 1/4 mile in length.
Reserving RecWell Facilities
On-Campus Departments and Student Organizations
To ensure the appropriate use of space, athletic and recreational programming needs are prioritized. When available, university departments, individuals, and student organizations may request the use of various facilities. A fee may be associated with reservations to cover overhead costs and to ensure the security of the facility.
